4TH ANNUAL FORUM: INNOVATIVE APPROACHES

 

On 29th and 30th of october the 4th annual forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region was held in Ulm (Germany). The workshop of PA1a focused on “Innovative approaches on the Danube and its navigable tributaries.”

Discussions concentrated on the “Fairway Rehabilitation and Maintenance Master Plan” and the activities in connection with Administrative Processes.

The momentum created in 2014/2015 in the field of fairway maintenance needs to be maintained. The Masterplan and its Action Plans are “living documents” and shall be continuously updated and elaborated. Key implementation actions of the Masterplan – such as the FAIRway project – have successfully started, but ongoing support and enhanced cooperation between European, national, regional and local authorities and actors will be needed in the further steps of implementation. Additional activities shall be set up to complement FAIRway in the fields that are not yet addressed by this project.

Regarding the activities on Administrative Processes, a work plan has been elaborated with PA 11. Based on further specifying the ways to improve administrative procedures along the Danube, activities to harmonize and simplify as well as digitalise border procedures will be intensified.
