Transnational project (NL, DK, RS) Critical sections on the Danube River in Serbia are identified in the Master Plan for IWW Transport in Serbia (2006). River training works are needed in order to achieve fairway parameters which would improve navigation conditions in terms of safety. Necessary designs and tender documentation for river training works on six critical sections on the Danube River in Serbia were elaborated.
Banks protection on the Sulina Canal
National project (RO) The project foresees further bank protection works on the Sulina Channel (on a length of 36.7 km), in addition to the works already concluded (lenght of 15km).
Improving navigation conditions on the Danube between Calarasi and Braila (rkm 375–175)
National project (RO) As a consequence of critical points on the Călăraşi – Brăila section of the Danube, vessels must take a bypass route via the Bala–Borcea branch, which extends the navigation distance to around 110 km, for periods of around 140 – 160 days/ year. The project therefore includes river engineering works which will ensure navigation levels on the Old Danube and have a reduced impact on the environment, having effects only during low water seasons.
Waiting berth for the dismantling/remaking of pushed convoys at the junction between the Danube–Black Sea Canal and the Poarta Alba–Midia Navodari Canal
National project (RO) The main goal of the waiting berth for convoys is to facilitate the convoys’ assembling/dismantling operations, including the assurance of cargo safety as well as the simple vessel’s mooring, and to lower the unit waterway transport cost. The waiting berth is located on the left bank of the Danube–Black Sea Canal, upstream from the junction with the Poarta Albă–Midia Năvodari Canal. It is 300 m long and has three piers and a quay depth of 5.5 m.
Rehabilitation of the right bank of the Danube river at km 1,322 (Sotin)
National project (HR) The Danube river near the village of Sotin at river-km 1,322 causes erosion of the extremely dilapidated right bank which might result in the undermining and subsequent collapse of the bank. A direct effect of lateral erosion of the river is the decrease of water depths, especially at low-water periods, thus negatively affecting inland waterway transport. The project foresees river engineering measures on this sector (sill and two T-groynes).
International ship winter shelter on the Danube in Croatia
National project (HR) The new winter shelter for vessels would be situated in Opatovac and be equipped with all necessary infrastructures. The construction of the winter shelter includes the creation of bank structures, the construction of an additional building and the organization of local waters.

National project (RO) Banks consolidation works along the Poarta Alba-Midia Navodari Canal are being executed in order to ensure the safety of transport on the canal.
RoRIS – Traffic vessel management and information system on the Danube, Danube–Black Sea Canal and Poarta Alba–Midia Navodari Canal
National project (RO) Within the project a most complex system in the area of Intelligent Systems of Naval Transport was developed, taking into account that it covers all ports with significant traffic on the Romanian Danube sector.
T4P – Train for Ports
Proposal for a transnational project (NL, DE, RO) The project intended to address sectoral changes and human issues, specifically needed skills, as a component of wider efforts to make EU ports more competitive and resource-efficient. It intended to feature an analysis of the status quo of formal and informal education and training with respect to port activities, look into future challenges and demands in education and training of port workers and design a roadmap for a European Port Training Policy.
Implementation of River Information Services in Serbia
National project (RS) Serbian River Information Services cover the entire stretch of the Danube waterway in Serbia, including cross-border sections which form a crucial part of the system. Implementation of RIS in Serbia is harmonized with the existing RIS systems in Europe.
